Founded in the 1870s with the coming of the railroad, Modesto was a frontier boomtown and one of the wildest towns in the Central Valley. Since then, Modesto has developed into California’s 15th largest city, with over 200,000 residents. Located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, Modesto’s central location allows for a short drive to the mountains or some of the nation’s most renowned parks. You can also shop, dine, enjoy live music, or just relax in historic downtown Modesto. From fine dining to antique shopping, downtown Modesto has something for everyone. Plus, you’ll find convenient access to Highways 99 and 132, as well as Amtrak, for easy commuting.
